We are moving forward with plans to host an in-person, outdoor Derby Day at Sea Island’s Retreat Clubhouse on Saturday, May 1, 2021. Due to COVID-19 restrictions instituted by Sea Island in accordance with the Governor’s orders, the number of guests will be limited this year.
Effective March 27, 2021, Derby Day sponsorships with tickets are sold out. Supporters who are not interested in receiving event tickets, can still make donations or be listed as a sponsorship with the understanding that they will not be eligible for tickets as a result of their support. These gifts will be recorded as a charitable donation to Frederica Academy.
We are grateful to the FA community for its tremendous response to this year’s event, and we look forward to a more traditional Derby Day in 2022.
We will consult with Glynn County Health Department officials, the Governor’s orders, and Sea Island representatives to determine the viability of hosting an in-person event based on current local data and conditions as it relates to COVID-19. If it is deemed imprudent to host an in-person event, Derby Day will become a virtual fundraiser, complete with a raffle, auction, and sponsorship listing. We will make this decision no later than March 31 per our contract with Sea Island.
If Derby Day becomes a virtual event, all 2021 sponsors will be encouraged to convert their sponsorship to a fully tax-deductible gift to Frederica Academy in order to help us meet our fundraising goals this year. Whether in-person or virtual, this year’s silent auction will be operated through an online bidding platform as opposed to paper and clipboards. This, along with a number of other measures, are steps we are taking to remain COVID-compliant.
Please know your sponsorship will make an important difference in the school’s ability to provide critical support to Frederica’s extraordinary students.
