Community Service
“To whom much is given, much is expected.”Our Mantra
Community Service Home
The community service activities at Frederica Academy provide an opportunity for students, families, and staff to share themselves and their resources with those in need. The Frederica Academy Service Council is one of the most active groups on campus. Our projects range from local to global and include gifts of time, talent, labor, and spirit. Upper School students who are members of the National Honor Society are required to perform a set amount of service hours per year and those desiring to earn the service cord at graduation must also earn a designated amount of hours. However, all students are strongly encouraged to participate throughout their school years.
In lower school years, students participate in campus-wide and classroom-based service projects. These activities include food drives, Operation Christmas Child, and making cards for the elderly.
Middle school students are encouraged to become involved with the campus-wide service projects led by the Upper School Service Council. These include canned food drives and clothing drives, Relay for Life events, and volunteering in community events.
As students move through the Upper School years they are encouraged to develop leadership in conceiving, planning, and performing service in a wider arena. Community Service experiences at Frederica Academy Upper School include St. Vincent de Paul services, Manna House, Relay for Life, Glynn County Animal Services, American Red Cross Blood Drives, Christmas Family Adoptions, and many others.
Mahatma Gandhi stated, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." Those are great words to live by!
