Shadow FA for a Day

Lower School (grades PK-4th) begins at 8:00 a.m. The school day concludes at 2:00 p.m. in Pre-Kindergarten and 3:00 p.m. in grades 1st-4th. Middle and Upper School (grades 5th-12th) begin at 8:15 am and dismiss at 3:20 p.m.

Shadow visitors should arrive at 8:00 am to meet the Director of Admission and Shadow Buddy in the front office of the school’s main administration building.

Shadow visitors should bring a refillable water bottle and snack. Visitors in grades 1st-11th may choose to bring a packed lunch or order from the cafeteria as a guest of the Admission Office. Visitors in Pre-K and Kindergarten should bring a packed lunch. Please alert the Admission Office before your child’s visit if he or she has any significant allergies or medical issues that may affect his or her visit.

Shadow visitors should dress comfortably, mindful that FA students wear a school uniform.

Shadow visitors will meet their parents in the front office of the school’s main administration building at the conclusion of the school day. For students shadowing in Pre-Kindergarten, parents are welcome to use the carpool line in front of the school where our teachers will walk your child out and share information about his or her visit.

Another important part of the admission process is the on-campus admission assessment that is administered to all Frederica Academy admission applicants. The assessment consists of three grade-level appropriate portions: reading comprehension, math and writing. We find that it is often most convenient to administer this assessment during the student’s shadow visit. For students in Lower School, the assessment will be administered by the teacher inside the classroom. Middle and Upper School students will take the assessment during their shadow buddy’s daily study period; it will be administered in the divisional Academic Center or in the Office of Admission.
