The Second Class of the Frederica Academy Sports Hall of Fame were inducted at a school-wide assembly on Friday, September 3, 2010. Members of the Class of 2010 include: Jaclyn Altman Nazarian (Class of 1995) - Jaclyn Altman played on the varsity softball team all four years of high school. She received Honorable Mention recognition for the All-State Softball Team and was recognized twice as an All-Region softball player. She lettered in basketball all four years of high school. She received the Most Improved Award, Coach’s Award, and received the Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) twice during her basketball career. Jaclyn received All-Region and All-County honors her sophomore and junior years as well as All-State Honors her junior year. Jaclyn helped the Lady Knights win their first Region Basketball Championship in the 1993-1994 Season. In her senior season, Jaclyn was All-Region and scored her 1,000th point for Frederica on February 7, 1995. She ended her career with 1,024 points and remains one of the top scorers in Frederica girls’ basketball history. Jaclyn played varsity tennis for four years and was honored with an MVP Award and a spot on the All-Region Team as a sophomore and senior. She is a two-time State Doubles’ Champion and won the State Singles Championship her senior year. Jaclyn helped lead the Frederica girls’ tennis team to Region Championships in 1991, 1994 and 1995. She also led the team to state titles in 1993, 1994, and 1995. Jaclyn was the Senior Superlative “Most Athletic.” She was the Most Valuable Female Athlete for three years and was the US Army Reserve Scholar Athlete. Jaclyn and her husband, Josh, live in Atlanta.
Jim Benefield (Class of 1981) - Jim started on the varsity soccer team all four years of his high school career. He was awarded the MVP Award twice and led the Frederica team to second and third place finishes in the GHSA State Soccer Tournaments. Jim led the boys’ soccer team to three Region Championships. During his high school career, Jim was first or second on the team in scoring each year. Jim was Co-Captain his senior year, and helped lead the way for the emergence of Frederica being a “power house” soccer program. Jim played varsity tennis for three years. He was twice awarded the Most Improved Award. His senior year he helped the tennis team win a Boys’ Region Championship. Jim played varsity boys basketball his freshman and senior years. He earned the Coach’s Award his senior year, which was fitting since he coached two games that year after the coach was ejected. He went 1-1 as a basketball coach at Frederica. Jim was co-captain and the starting point guard his senior year. Jim and his wife, Susie, are the parents of Riley ’09, Jack ’10, Harrison ‘10 and Catherine ’20. He is the Chairman of the Frederica Academy Board of Trustees and a successful attorney on Saint Simons Island.
Sybi Parker Kuchar (Class of 1995) –In her two years at Frederica Academy, Sybi lettered in girls soccer, tennis, and basketball. Before coming to Frederica, Sybi was an established tennis player; she earned a spot on the North Carolina Davis Wightman Cup Tennis Team. As a freshman, Sybi was named to the Prince High School All-American Team. Each year at Frederica, Sybi: lettered in tennis; earned the girls tennis team MVP Award; earned spots on the Girls’ All-State and All-Region tennis teams; won the Region Championship; and won the Girls’ Singles State Championship. She also led the team that won two Region Championships as well as two State Titles. During her career, Sybi earned a near perfect record of 60-1 (her only loss was to a defending state champion). Sybi played Basketball both years at Frederica. She received Honorable Mention All-Region Team and the Coach’s Award in basketball. Sybi played girls’ soccer the first year Frederica fielded a girls’ soccer team. In this first year, she was part of the All-Region Soccer Team leading the team to a second place finish in region and a berth in the state playoffs. Sybi competed collegiately in tennis at the Georgia Institute of Technology. At the time of her graduation, she had the highest amount of doubles’ wins and third most singles’ wins in school history. She was nationally ranked in three age groups by the USTA and ranked in the top ten of the Southern Tennis Association for three age groups. Sybi won second in Mixed Doubles and third in Singles at the USTA National Open Grass Court Championship in Newport, Rhode Island. Sybi is married to Matt Kuchar and has two sons, Cameron and Carson. Sybi was on the board of Advisory at Georgia Tech and currently works with the non-profit organization Camp Twin Lakes and the PGA Tour Wives’ Association.
Elaine Smith Peck (Class of 1989) -Elaine played varsity tennis for five years. Her five-year reign over girls’ tennis is one of the most impressive feats in Frederica Academy sports’ history. For five consecutive years, Elaine won the MVP Award, the Region Singles’ Championship, and the State Singles’ Championship. She also won the Headmaster’s Award for girls’ tennis. Elaine led the girls’ tennis team to four consecutive Region Championships and two consecutive State Titles. During her varsity career, Elaine had a record of 73-3. Elaine participated in varsity softball for two years, starting at third base and shortstop. She was voted “Most Athletic” as her Senior Superlative. She was also awarded the Frederica Academy Senior Scholar Award and the US Army Reserve Scholar Athlete Award. Elaine was the #1 Ranked High School Girls’ Tennis Player in the State of Georgia as well as being ranked nationally. She was the #1 singles player for Georgia’s Davis Wightman Cup Juniors Team and was a scholarship tennis player at the College of Charleston and Wake Forest University. Robbie Williamson (Class of 1986) -Rob played on both the junior varsity and varsity soccer teams lettering in soccer all four years. Every year of his high school career his teams won the Soccer State Championships as well as Region Championships. Rob was the Captain his senior year and received Most Valuable Player honors. He was part of the All-Region, All-State, and All-Star Soccer Teams for two years. Rob was also part of the Beaufort Invitational All-Tournament Team. He was captain of the junior varsity basketball team for a year where he was honored with the Coach’s Award. He played varsity basketball for four years. Rob was Co-Captain of the baseball team his senior year and received All-Region honors twice and a MVP Award during his basketball experience. Rob played Tennis for two seasons. During this time, he had a second place finish in Tennis State Doubles, earned the Headmaster’s Award and Most Improved Award. With his help, the boys’ tennis team won Region Championships in 1983, 1985, and 1986. Rob was a member of the varsity baseball team for two years. He received the Headmaster’s Award and was selected for the All-Region Baseball Team. Rob was the Senior Superlative “Most Athletic” and was honored as the Most Valuable Male Athlete for two years.
