Frederica Academy Sports Hall of Fame
On April 20, 2009, Frederica Academy announced that, in commemoration of the school’s 40th Anniversary, it was establishing a Sports Hall of Fame to honor individuals and teams that made distinguished and lasting achievements and contributions to the Frederica Knights’ athletic program.

The inaugural class was inducted into the Hall of Fame at a school-wide assembly on Friday, September 4, 2009.

The Frederica Academy Sports Hall of Fame Inaugural Inductees include the following individuals: Stephen Been (Class of 1983); Cindy Smith Boyd (Class of 1990); William Douglass (Class of 1990); Carey Howell (Class of 1988); Gary Larkins (Coach – 1975-2000); Jaclyn Martelli (Class of 2002); Jeff Seymour (Class of 1987); and Amy Greenwood Smith (Class of 1994). In addition to these individual inductions, the following State Championship Teams are being inducted into the Hall of Fame: 1982-1983 Boys Soccer Team; 1983-1984 Boys Soccer Team; 1983-1984 Golf Team; and 1984-1985 Boys Soccer Team.

To be eligible for nomination to the Frederica Academy Sports Hall of Fame, player candidates must be Frederica Academy graduates who have been out of school for more than five years. Additional requirements include having earned a letter in one or more sports for at least two years and, if applicable, having received All-Region or All-State Honors. Alternatively, a graduate who participated in varsity athletics while at Frederica and then competed in college athletics or attained a profession in athletics is also eligible for consideration.

Others eligible for nomination include past and present coaches; those who have given meritorious service to the athletic program; or a Frederica Academy athletic team that has attained record status or state recognition more than five years prior to the nominating period.

Frederica Academy Hall of Fame inductees are chosen by a nine-member selection committee. Names for nomination can be submitted to the committee at anytime by anyone. To become a member of the Hall of Fame, eligible persons or teams must be: 1) nominated; 2) seconded by someone on the selection committee; and 3) be included on more than 75% of the ballots cast. No more than twelve nominees, including teams, can be inducted into the Hall of Fame each year.
